Our Top 5 Beach Recommendations in Destin, Florida

If you are staying off the beach while visiting Destin, Florida then here are our top 5 beach recommendations for you to have the best beach day!

Henderson Beach State Park

If you are looking for one of the quieter beaches in Destin, Florida look no further! Henderson Beach State Park is a National Park that requires you to pay a small fee to access and due to this there is a limit to how many people can be on the beach. As far as park features go there is a campground you can book to stay at, multiple large pavilions, grills on site, multiple showers, a children’s park and beach trails! This beach is kept in absolutely pristine condition and is a local’s well kept secret. The only con there is to this beach is the limit on capacity so make sure to get there early on the weekends!

Osteen Beach Trail

Hidden on Norriego Point this family friendly beach is a great spot for those looking to snorkel! Osteen Beach is a prime spot for you and your little ones to run around in a limited expanse of a beach and feel safe. This will allow families to keep track of where everyone is at all times. Additionally, you are located right on the Destin pass and can see the boats coming and going all day. This spot is also good for fishing if you head over to the jetties and cast off from there. You may even be able to catch some dolphins out in those emerald waters! The only con is that parking is limited so you will want to get there early.

The Shore at Crystal Beach

Conveniently located on Scenic 98 this beach access is great for a day out! Right across from this access is Camille’s Cafe where you can go to grab a snack, beer or coffee and return right back to catching some rays! You can ride over on your golf cart or your car but keep in mind car parking is limited. This access has a beautiful pavilion to enjoy lunch under, restrooms and well maintained showers. Crystal Beach is also where Little Adventures Destin is located where you and your family can do bite sized adventures!

Beasley Park

This beach access is another perfect spot for families to go and have some fun in the sun! Located on Okaloosa Island this is right outside of Destin proper and refreshingly less busy. Similar to the above beach access, this one features two pavilions and 3 different locations for showers as well as restrooms. This park is closed at sundown so there is no overnight parking. There is however plenty of parking at this access as well. You will enjoy your time on this beach if you choose to go solo or with your family!

Captain Leonard Destin Park

While not a normal Gulf-side beach access, this bayside access has plenty for families with little ones who are first experiencing the Emerald Coast. This park features a fairly shallow stretch of beach facing towards the infamous Crab Island, and is roped off to prevent water vehicles from getting too close. It also has a fishing pier, restrooms, walking trails, a splash pad, a playground, and multiple pavilions. With so much to do, it’s sure to keep all kids of all ages entertained!
